The Project
Started in September 2025, Trashbags is an ongoing collection of wearable art by Benjamin Van Oost. Discarded objects and reclaimed materials become the starting point for sculptural bags, bringing existing
forms into a new relationship with the body.

The collection moves between compact shoulder bags, angular constructions and expressive handheld pieces. Each explores how an object can be carried, worn and displayed.
The Approach
The process begins with materials already available. Their shapes and surfaces guide the construction, while colour, graphic patterns, lettering and unexpected details give each piece its character.
Folded planes meet chains and handles. Bold geometric compositions sit alongside loose script and playful combinations of colour. Reuse runs through the collection, extending the life of materials through transformation.

Some pieces are robust enough for regular handling; others are more delicate and require greater care. How each work is worn and used follows from its materials and construction.
The Result
After a year of development, Trashbags is preparing for its launch. The collection brings together sculptural objects that can become part of a personal style or stand on their own as artworks.
Carried on the body, their shapes shift with the wearer. Displayed, their surfaces and assembled details invite a closer look.

Launching soon.
