Écriture automatique — Graphic Umbrella | Black & White

A canopy of graphic marks above an everyday object.

This umbrella carries Benjamin Van Oost’s expressive line work over a broad, curved surface. The dark marks follow the panels and create a composition that opens out with the canopy. Its pale ground keeps the individual gestures visible, bringing the artist’s Écriture automatique language into an object encountered through movement and changing viewpoints.
